Ellen is a licensed social worker (LSW) working towards her full license (LCSW - licensed clinical social worker) in Pennsylvania. This process is similar to a doctor’s residency period - Ellen has completed all of her education and training, but is practicing under the supervision of an licensed therapist until she has gained enough hours for her full license.
Supervisor: Jessica Frick, LPC
Who Am I?
I’m Ellen, (she/her/hers). I am a cisgender Caucasian woman. In my career, I’ve gained experience helping individuals with a wide range of needs. I’m most experienced in helping clients navigate and heal from the effects of trauma, recovery from and management of anxiety, OCD, and depression, and assisting clients in moving through the growing pains of life.
I love working with:
People who feel stuck in their anxiety and/or depression
Those who are ready for OCD to stop ruling their life
Individuals who feel like their anger is getting in the way of healthy, happy relationships
People who are way too hard on themselves
Adults who are going through a recent loss and need support in their grief
How I Help
My goal is to work together as a team to ensure that therapy fits your needs, building on your expertise of your life and lived experience. Life comes with growing pains, and that they can be scary to navigate alone. The ups and downs of life, and the emotions we experience, are what make us all human. I will help you see your human-ness first, with various modalities and methods centered around increased awareness and being kinder to yourself, especially during tough times. None of us were born with a guidebook to becoming human - we’re all trying to do things to the best of our abilities.
What it’s like in a session with me
In our sessions, you’ll find a fellow human in me - navigating life right alongside you. I show up authentically, and I hope you feel safe enough to do the same. I truly believe that starting therapy is one of the bravest things you can do - not because there’s anything to be ashamed of - but because it takes a lot of courage to sit down and say, “I’m ready to work on this”. I invite you to come to sessions exactly as you are, with no exceptions. Whether you’re completely lost or just need some support, I’ll be here - I’m honored to help you navigate whatever’s coming.
My approach is built on warmth and self-compassion. You can expect a space where you feel deeply understood, occasionally challenged (with kindness!), and always supported. None of us have all the answers, but we can work together to find the ones that make sense for you.
More about me
I’m someone who’s always evolving and finding new hobbies to dive into. My bookshelf is a bit of a mix—I love everything from cheesy 'Hallmark-style' romances to epic fantasy, and even the occasional serious read. When I'm not reading, I’m usually taking it easy at yoga or enjoying the outdoors. On nice days, you’ll find me outside walking with my partner and my puppy, Sully, or out on the course pretending I know how to golf. I’m also a huge hip-hop fan and love hanging out with my two cats, Nelly and Fergie.
"This is a moment of suffering. Suffering is a part of life. May I be kind to myself in this moment. May I give myself the compassion I need.”
-Kristin Neff, Ph.D.
